"Pick our band up off the floor!"
I am a music teacher in a K-5 public school in Ozone Park (Queens), NY. This year we are starting a band program with the instruments (flutes and clarinets) already in our possession. We also hope to purchase additional instruments in another proposal.
However, we first must purchase music stands and chairs. It's very difficult to play the clarinet sitting on the floor or at a desk! Therefore, we are looking for 30 chairs and 10 music stands (we have 5 already) in order to make this a rich and comfortable experience for our students.
I have seen music not only enrich the lives of students, but also give those who many not excel in other areas a chance to shine. This is why, when we live in a world where music is often the first on the fiscal chopping block, it is so important to keep such opportunities alive for our children. The cost of 30 folding chairs from Quill and 10 music stands from LMI Music for this proposal is $1,101, including shipping and fulfillment.
Fully Funded as of November 25, 2004.
